Big Dreams, Good Music, & Expensive Taste

New Year's Eve. A very sparkly dress, a glittericious party, a bubbly drink, and if you're lucky, a kiss that lingers minutes past midnight. What better way to send off 2012 and bring in the New Year? The biggest decision on your mind currently is where am I going to find the perfect sequined dress and where am I going to be wearing it to? Both very legit concerns for the average girl. New Year's Eve is one of those days where it's ok to dress up and drench yourself in glitter and sequins. I think that is the appropriate attire for any day of the week, but especially on NYE. Glitter makes the world go round (it's true). If you normally find yourself dressing in 50 shades of grey (and black) everyday of the week, it's time to live a little! Step out of your comfort zone and get ready to paint the town red with your daring wardrobe choice. Like Avril said, who wants to be ordinary in a crazy mixed up world? So profound.

Men: Wear a suit or even a tuxedo! Dress like James Bond, even if you are not going to a black tie event. You know people will want to take pictures with you. Looking hot is fun. Did you know that you can dress up every weekend of the year and not just on NYE? Just sayin.

Choose to go somewhere with people that you actually want to be with. Strangers sometimes make for an interesting evening, but being in an incredibly crowded place with people you don't know, and being stuck there for the entire night is not always the best choice. Also, don't make the mistake of leaving you decision up to the last minute and ending up going nowhere. How boring, yawn. The night is of course totally overrated but all that matters is that you are with people you care about and you have really cute pictures to post the next day. I only have like 3,600 pictures currently on facebook....I'm officially addicted to pictures and it makes me really happy. (Cute pink cameras take the best pictures, duh.)

Before it's the New Year, here are a few things I suggest:

Go ahead and break the rules a little: If it's chocolate you deprive yourself of all year long, then go crazy and sugar yourself up! Chocolate covered gummy bears are a personal fave of mine, but I will always love love loveeeee my sour gummies. If you've skipped out on fast food for a while, drive through more than one place for your favorite food and bring it all home to enjoy. You will be in the comfort of your own home, people won't judge you.

Pamper Yourself: Take a long, hot bath. Give yourself a pedicure. Dye your hair. Choose one or two things you don't usually have time for or can't always afford, and give yourself a mini-makeover. Or make an appointment to get your hair or makeup done if you aren't a master at doing either. I think choosing the right lipgloss is most important; I never leave the house without my glossy lips. Look completed.

Have Beauty & Brains: If you're going to drink, don't be stupid. Make sure you have a designated driver or chip in for a group cab. The same rules you use on any other night apply on New Year's Eve: don't accept a drink from anyone you don't know and never leave it unattended. Personally, I would much rather spend my evening taking an insane amount of pictures then drinking to the point where I don't remember my night. Also, with all of the excitement it's easy to forget to eat beforehand but why not end the year with an incredibly delicious dinner from one of your favorite restaurants? I love food and I can't wait to go try a new restaurant that opened in Chicago with my boyfriend before all of the festivities!

Get ready to dance the night away, a.k.a give Ke$ha a run for her money: So many people are embarrassed to have fun. So maybe you don't have an ounce of rhythm in your body, who cares? Or maybe you can't wait to get low, which is always fun to watch. Please don't tell me "I'm not drunk enough to dance". That is like nails on a chalkboard to me. What a lame excuse!! Live in the moment and whip that hair back and forth girl. LONG HAIR DON'T CARE.

When you are getting ready that evening just remember; a smile is a woman's best accessory, sequins are appropriate no matter what the occasion, and some days simply require a glass of champagne. Have a fabulous and safe New Years Eve all of you beautiful people!

P.S. I can't wait for my midnight kiss : )

Love & Pink,
Lisa
